Don't use it unless your battery is 100%

Your battery can only be 2 years old so its not right if it is dead. I would get your alternator charge current checked at the same time as the new battery |

Agree in theory unless the battery has had a couple of deep discharges from things being left on etc. Most lead acid batteries are useless after 2 or 3 complete run downs as it knackers the plates... |

That's definitely the sign of a dead battery |

Perhaps get a multimeter from somewhere like Maplin to isolate the issue or call the AA/RAC to do it. You will want to check the battery and the current going into the starter motor.

Took some real juice to fire it up again, many tries and still seemed very reluctant, but up and running now, we see how it starts tomorrow No body told me there would be days like these

had the exact same thing happen after the last cold snap when i was parked up at stansted airport for a few days. took a lot of tries to get it going and once started all the warning lights came up and the car would only give me 3rd gear. after 45mins of driving i had the courage to switch off and fortunately there was enough juice in the battery to restart and everything went back to normal. Been fine ever since. TDV8 Vogue 2006 (2007MY) Tonga/Black |
