Any ideas would be much appreciated.

I have a loud whirring / vibration noise coming from the centre console area in my 2007 TDV8. It is not always present but is pretty annoying when it is. It can start as soon as you unlock the car, before you insert the key in the ignition but carries on while the engine is on. Sometimes it starts part way through a journey and sometimes it just stops and sometimes it continues right the way through. It doesn't seem to relate to the heating / climate / air con because it doesn't change if you adjust those and is separate from the noise of the air blower. Its not coming from the CD changer. It sounds like a small fan or motor of some sort running at max revs, if you put a coin on the cupholder cover (next to gear stick) it vibrates visibly. Its not the air compressor I don't think - that has a normal sounding faint hum when it is in use. I can't see anything obvious with my IID tool - although I have only just starting using it.

Its driving me round the twist.

If it is it's one of the vent control stepper motor's for the air con... Pete

Thanks, it's not like that - yours sounds like a demented woodpecker. Its much more high frequency, bit like vibration on a mobile phone.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I have pretty much this exact issue. Some weird vibration coming from the dash area, can sometimes go off. Comes on randomly and doesn’t seem to coincide with heater controls.

Does anyone have any recommendations for things to check? Mine is a 2011 Vogue TDV8
