United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Java Black
TD6 gearbox rebuilding time. GM5L40E

I know this topic has been discussed at length on here and I apologise for starting a new post about it, I have searched and went square eyes reading all the posts and have got myself more confused as a result. I am in Belfast and won't use any of the "gearbox specialists" over here because they haven't a clue and just want to take your money and don't inspire any confidence. The gearbox has had its filter changed and I am confident that it needs rebuilding. It's hanging onto gears and not changing when it should and there appears to be slipping as the engine revs up and speed doesn't increase. My question is has anyone used either of the following rebuilders:-
ECUS
Jubilee House
3 The Drive
Brentwood
Essex CM13 3FR
Quoted £1495 with 24month warrenty

Or
Re-Engineered Transmissions,
Unit p2 freightmasters industrial estate,
Coldharbour lane,
rainham,
Essex
rm13 9bj
Said it would be anything from £850-£1800 depending on what needed replacing.
12 month warranty.

I intend to keep the car for another 2-3 years so I want a good job done.

Any help/info greatly appreciated!

I haven't used them, having had 2 rebuilds ( by different garages ) it's important to find the right place.. I used http://www.staautogearbox.co.uk/home for my second rebuild and they know their stuff, there are several members on here that have used them....

But wouldn't it be better to try and find a specialist slightly nearer to say, Liverpool ? Mackie has an excellent reputation and I know that there are a lot of forum members that have used them Thumbs Up

Still could be worth asking for a specialist in the Liverpool area.... chances are that most that far north will go the extra few miles to Glasgow Rolling Eyes Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

There is Birch services who a few have used in Liverpool. Get yourself down to the harbour and on the overnight ferry to liverpool and a short hop from them or over to Cairnryan and drive down Smile

True I suppose but then I guess Glasgow and Liverpool are probably about the same in terms of long romantic weekend away excuses Wink FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
