Hello all,

I bought a 1 litre top up bottle of coolant today from the dealer.
I didn't even think to check the colour at the time but when back at home, I thought about it and checked. The LR coolant was green, whereas my car has orange coolant.
Am I right in thinking you cannot mix these two fluids and therefore have LR given me the wrong stuff?
It's a 2007 TDV8.

Hi Ian.

As far as I'm concerned, coolant color is a comercial issue, I mean, it is not necessarily related to coolant specifications. For instance, you might find green and orange colors within the same brand name and with the same specifications, or not.

Before mixing coolants, check % concentration of water and coolant and temperature operating ranges (against freezing and against boil-over).

Also, you may find in the car instructions which are the coolant fluids recommended by RR. And never ever, except an emergency, fill in with tap water.

I wouldn't be so quick - I thought there were some ingredients that were not compatible and reduced the overall effectiveness...... I could be wrong and have fallen for some sort of marketing hype though....

As alistair says i wouldnt be quick to add it, generally speaking the orange coolant is OAT coolant and this shouldn't be mixed with regular blue/green coolant.

Your car should have Orange/pink coolant in it from the factory, so it has the right stuff in there. TBH i wouldnt worry about the brand, just some ready mixed orange coolant from Halfords will do the trick used it as top up in my 3.6 with no issues at all

I didn't use it, didn't want to risk it so I will be taking it back.
I kind of knew the answer rolling around in the back of my mind somewhere, was just after a little reassurance from the good folk on here.
Since the original posting I have done a bit of research and looked at rave and I know what's what now.
