2005 Range Rover Vogue SE Td6 Java Black
A free upgrade?

My RR states it is a Vogue SE on the V5 but when I gave the dealer my reg they said their system shows it up as an Autobiography.

Perhaps I got a bargain? or Microcat is wrong Razz

On your bonnet slam pannel you should have a Land Rover Special Vehicles plate and a serial number if it is indeed an AB.

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 V8 Cairns Blue

Sounds like you have an "Unbadged Autobiography" to me. If you look in MICROCAT under the vehicles minor features it lists all of the customised options on the car. Under this section it should show "Autobiography" near the top and something like "Unbadged A/B UK" (probably near the bottom). This means that the vehicle shell was destined to be something else first rather than your AB. This order was subsequently cancelled and the shell was then used for your vehicle

I have a similar thing with my car. The V5 lists it as a Vogue SE as does the MICROCAT heading description, but when you look into it you find the references that I have described above. Before I purchased the car I spoke to the dealer who supplied the vehicle and had then send me a copy of the direct dealer warranty. This list any recalls for the vehicle and show warranty info. But above all it shows the options fitted to the vehicle. This matched the MICROCAT listing showing that it was an AB vehicle. After that I spoke with special vehicles and ask them to clarify. They pulled the build card and told me that my vehicle shell was initially destined for a Middle East order as a Vogue SE (AB was not available outsidethe UK back then) that was cancelled. The shell was then used for my vehicle but as the build card for the shell had already been raised it had to be placed under the "Unbadged AB" banner. As such no badges or ID plate. They assured me not to worry as any vehicle with an AB option pack is entitled to carry the AB boot badge if the owner wishes. They even sent me one for free! My vehicle has the extended wood pack, extended leather pack (included colour coordinated grab handles) and the colour ways interior options.

I hope this clarifies the situation a little for you...

An Autobiography had the same equipment level as a Vogue SE but allowed the customer to personalise the vehicle with a large range of options only available if you paid the extra for the AB. This included what ever exterior paint colour you want including body coloured vent surrounds etc. Land Rover of course have a range of AB interior and exterior colours to choose from but would allow you to select any colour you want. The exterior is hand painted and polished, each vehicle has over 100 hours spent on the paint work alone.

You can select extra interior options including embroidered headrests, extended wood packs and extended leather options (includes duo tone seats, duo tone steering wheel, coloured gear selector, handbrake gaiter, Dash top, headlining grab handles, door arm rests, dash facia, glove box, centre console and rear seat post trim). Seats come in softer hand picked leather with perforated or alcantara centre panels.

You get a choice of wood pack. Either lined oak anthracite, grand black lacquer, burr maple prussian blue or vavona burl amber. Those in addition to the standard wood packs.

You can also get colour coordinated sheep skin footwell mats (not very practical but very soft!!!). You get as standard polished Autobiography sill plates with the AB badge in addition to the AB Boot badge. You were also able to specify the AB diamond finish 20" wheels (very nice but almost £1000 each!)

To finish the pack off you get a complimentary solid silver AB keyring. its almost the size of the boot badge and if you lose it they cost £130 to replace!!!

This is very different now as the AB has been incorporated into the main model line and gets some extra equipment as standard (eg Dual view screen). I believe you have now lost the option of personalising the exterior and Special Vehicles no longer process the orders.

Oh dang. No special plaque for me, microcat has it wrong then. Perhaps its similar as Steve described that it was going to be an AB but the shell was switched.

Never mind Sad
