maps mk4 nav no good

Hi all I've done a couple of well known to me routes that I normally do in my m6 with the more modern cic - I have an mk4 nav in the ff with the same year maps - the mk4 takes me a completely different longer route - and this happens all the time? I have it set to fast route but it seems to just take forever...
Any ideas? On v32

sometimes a longer route is faster because of the speed limits, for instance going longer via a motorway would be faster than a shorter route at a restricted speed of 50mph.. ... - .- -.

The RR likes to cruise about so people can see you in it.
