What milage have you got on your FF?

I am starting to think it was a good idea to keep my trusty P38 when I see things like this.

@RR38.

don't be put off by little things like this! Mr. Green

Mine has 184,000 miles and is mechanically original (including gearbox etc) except for a new radiator and water pump. Still drives sweetly! Bow down

I am doing mine as we type, I only have 120K miles but I have oil leaks at the upper timing chain covers and I wanted to do the beisan vanos upgrade as I had occasional start up rattle and noisy vanos when warm so I am doing the whole lot, chains, guides, valley pan, pcv valve, 80 Dev stat mod....
My timing chains at 120k miles still look like new but changed them out to febi bilstein samecas guides and valley pan.
It's not a bad job so far but time consuming

Your talking 120k miles?
High operating temps in conjunction with poor oil quality hasten the demise of these parts I believe.
The BMW M60/M62 Camshaft locking kit seems to be reasonably priced on fleabay, Chinese granted, does anyone have one of these kits? are they anygood?

I had the same issue, plastic bits found in sump lucky no damage to engine.

Ended up at a Land Rover specialist.

had new timings chains, guides, non return valves the works, solenoids.. even water pumps and thermostats so on when there.

Also two brand new Vanos units which got rid the Vanos Disnel knock.

My bill come to just over 3k lucky my warrently covered some of the costs.

Can be a lot cheaper doing yourself as labour is 16-20hours. 2003 Range Rover 4.4 Litre V8 - Adriatic blue
