Visit the Bovington Museum???

Every year my son and I have a "son/father day" we call it our "menday" since he was 3 years old. We've done Warwick castle, gaming, prewar carrally's, the guggenheim, medieval fencing etc. This year he would like to go to the Bovington tank museum.
any suggestions concerning flights (from bergerac to southhampton??? or...?) Hotels and things to do or visit in that neighbourhood?
Thanks in advance
Robert

Apparently its a great place my dad was a tank driver there, maybe that explains my liking for Range Rovers. Whistle Geoff

it's a great place even for normal people. MonkeyWorld is very close and also worth a gander.
Lulworth Cove and Durdle Daw also.

Portsmouth historic dockyard.

Worth a visit, lots of interesting things to see incl. Mary rose, and now includes the submarine museum and water taxi over to it. Needs to be timed right though or it will take up a fair chunk of the visit.

Flybe I think does direct Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Hi Robert,

Swanage Steam Railway is also good fun. Take the train from Swanage to Corfe Castle and stop off at the local pub called The Greyhound Inn for lunch (child friendly). Oh and view the castle as well Laughing

Robert, If you are flying to Southampton (Flybe) look at Limoges as well as Bergerac. A little further for you but the times might suit better. John

Thanks Andy and Weegie.
My son is 17 now, so child friendly is not the word he wants to hear Wink
He's very much in to 2nd WW history at the moment so we did duxford a while ago.
Idealy we would go by classic car, but his holiday is to short for that.
Bergerac is good for us 45 minutes Thumbs Up

A great part of the world to visit. Spent every summer there as a kid. Tank museum, fleet air arm museum at Yeovilton, Portsmouth Dockyard, swanage railway, plus loads of interesting places. You could easily spend weeks there. Look at flights to Bournemouth too.

On your museum visit day Robert, park up on the approach road which runs paralell to the Army test drive area. There are pull ins where you can watch all manner of current British Army vehicles hooning about - superb !

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

Bovington is great, and the other attractions mentioned, I would also add the Haynes museum, I was sat behind the man himself when we were there in August!! Wink Regards
