So, we have some G9 ones in the house as I was sick of replacing the halogen ones. Bought some LEDs off the bay, 25000 hours allegedly. Well they lasted less than 3 months and that's only occasional use as they're in the downstairs loo. Bought some Philips ones and they went the same way, cracked base due to overheating by the look of things.

Send them back for warranty replacement. I have bought many G10 ES27 and had a few failures some after the 2 year warranty period, a few before. Some manufacturers offer 2 or 3 years warranties but they tend to be the premium brand. |

We have the dreaded things in the kitchen all last about 2 months then overheat or at least they did till I wired in a pic to switch them on and of as it was the kids leaving them on and also being in an insulated roof - since then pretty good in the sitting room I put in sealed spots that were made for insulated roof space cast about 50 quid each but come with a 10 year guarantee and they are brilliant (so far) |

Yes, I should have mentioned, all the downlighters we have are Collingwood Halers H2 Pro units that have 3 x 3w CREE LEDs and a large driver pack on the back. Made with LED from the get-go and these are fine. It seems to be all the bulbs which replace incandescent bulbs which are rather shorter lived than the adverts would suggest.
