Right chaps on the move to France in next couple of years - we already have a house in the North but we are looking at the south, mainly for the weather.

I have a 2 bed cottage (old station house on a disused railway) in the Dordogne I am thinking of selling, needs some work but is probably not far enough south for you |

What might be more relevant is that it's ridiculously expensive, although you can still find more reasonable prices if you're prepared to live miles from anywhere ... Good luck with the research  It's "bébéchoon", ackcherly, with accents. 'Steve' to my chums.

Some friends of mine have just bought a place in Chalabre. 40 mins from skiing and 20 mins to a huge lake for the summer. Very cheap property with plenty to do not too far away. And if you like your vino lost of vineyards to pick through. |

We are heading down next month was thinking of heading to Carcassone and maybe doing the east side first then later go down and base ourselves in Biarritz for a week or so.It is just that SWMBO keeps changing her mind one minute mountains next sea then climate with seasons then sun only think I might blind fold her and take her up to Scotland in October just to show her what seasons are |

We were quite taken by Uzes in the Languedoc near Nimes. We also benefit from BA flight concessions so handy if an airport nearby that BA flies into but not essential |

Carcassonne is a lovely place but quiet outside the tourist season; 'dead', some would say! It's a lovely region and within striking distance of Toulouse (for the airport, for example), the mountains, the sea ... But be wary - Carcassonne can be a windy place, affected by the Autan, Tramontane, Marin and sometimes even the Mistral. Many say the locals are very cold. I haven't been there for years but yes I liked it along with Biarritz in the west and Perpignan in the east but of course that is all irrelevant as SWMBO has an opinion just not sure what it is |
