I've used them and plan on one for the RR. I can get one for about $50 US. Lifetime filter so for someone like me that keeps cars until finding parts becomes a scavenger hunt it's worth it. Lots of debate on how well it filters though. Some of my vehicles showed a benefit in gas mileage and other none that I could tell. |

Depending on which model you need (I have LPG so needed a smaller one after having had the air box removed for the LPG fitment) you should look at Amazon. I paid about £7 for mine and it has made a huge difference to the running. Now much smoother.

I bought a Pipercross one, cheaper than K&N but better/worse I don't know. Both are washable though so it may seem dear to buy but the cost is soon recovered over the years in both mpg and Normal filter purchases. Many thanks

piper cross are cheaper than the K and N because they use a foam core, which is cheaper to make. That said I have had a piper cross in the mrs car for years now and it has been faultless.

If I could find one for £7 it would be a no brainer. Not a cheapskate, just having spent £4,000 in last 2 years on my ff I'm trying to save a little when I can.

From the K&Ns I've used in the past they haven't had improved surface area over an OEM item - therefore they must have larger "pores" to increase the flow. They'll let more air through but more dirt as well.

I'm with Ric, they were good 20+ years ago but they are a waste of money these days, an original or OEM will ensure more than enough clean air to the engine....

K&N has a brand called AEM which makes oil-free filters that won't kill your MAF.

Are you including the air filter oil needed and the time spent cleaning the filter in your economics. |
