Well I had a few minutes to spare today - bored. I noticed Halfords (as they often do) had a 3 for 2 offer on car cleaning products. I don't clean my car much but when I do I tend to go a bit OTT, anyway I bought some Intensive Tar Remover, some Glass Polish and some Bumper and Trim cleaner guess what - it all worked a treat. Tar spots dissolved before my eyes, residual marks on Windows that are often on the side that I am cleaning were on the other side and the black plastic bits (mudflaps mainly) came up a treat.

Yes I know I could use a clay bar or mitt for the tar spots and have done in the past but this is way easier

Yep, they're not bad at all. They're been going for 40 odd years too, my Dad used to use them when I was a kid.

I tend to use Autosmart these days, mainly 'cos the bloke comes round with a van.

I like the AG products and although the Autosmart stuff is good (really like the Topaz stuff) the AG is consistent. I dropped on a bag full of it not long ago at a local car show for very little money  Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

I'm becoming rather picky in my old age and increasing desire for detail, so find the Super Resin Polish rather inferior to Meguiars products and rarely use it these days as its full of fillers.

I have used Autoglym High Definition wax but this is far inferior to an American wax I use called Harly Wax, so I use the latter all the time these days.

However, I love Autoglym's glass polish cream and their Rubber and Vinyl Care liquid.

The Halfords offers are good, but an even cheaper method is to buy the products in bulk as trade packs. Sure, a gallon of tyre shine, for example, may be considered expensive, but it's so much cheaper than buying it by the bottle. Si. <This is my name.

I shouldn't have started this - the car gets washed not polished and I do the windows when I wash it but now the black bits are black - progress . Polish is probably something I should consider for the future after all I have had the car for two years almost  Geoff

AutoGlym used to be trade only and the products were spot on

Now they are primarily retail with what I fell lesser products

AutoSmart have filled that gap nicely

I started of the thread with a laid back post about Halfords 3 for 2 on car cleaning products and the fact that I the fact bought some Autoglym stuff for cleaning bits of the car, they all worked superbly. But as expected the forum has raised my game - and i'm thinking about polishing the whole thing now and which polish to buy.

i might be in the minority but use that shopping stuff called williams spray and shine.....its very easy to apply and use and really makes the FF shine......

if the FF is really dirty i wash first, let dry then apply the stuff.. ... - .- -.
