United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Autobiography 4.2 SC V8 Bonatti Grey
New L322 Supercharged Owner

Hey Up Everyone,

Im Zaff from Sheffield. Just purchased a 2005 Supercharged Range Rover in 'Bonnatti Grey' I think.
I just wanted to know if you can update the gearbox using the IIDtool as i am looking to purchase a diagnostics kit which can do updates as well as all the diagnostics for the whole car. As the dealer even though ive given them the TSB (which i found on here) they are still wanting to charge me an hours worth of diag etc (£130quid min)

Also what disc and pads do people use on these? I was thinking Pagid Discs but unsure which pads.

I will add pics soon.

Cheerz

Zaff

Welcome fellow SC 2005 Bon Grey.

What do you mean update the gearbox?

When slowing down sometimes the gear change isn't as smooth as the rest of the time going from 2-1. There was a TSB for a gearbox update on the early supercharge gearboxes.

Yes you can update the software, I did it on my 2006 SC. its not a standard feature, you need to contact them send some info from the car that you download from the car and pay a small fee for them to unlock the feature. Worked well on mine.

Genuine discs and pads from our site sponsor Dan @ Duckworth parts. definitely the way to go.

Gearbox. Yes there have been software updates for it but a much more common cause of the downshift shunt is old ATF, Mechatronic solenoids drifting out of spec or indeed a combination of all factors. Do a search on here for posts by RR-Phil and a lot of this information will be revealed in great detail.

How many miles has your car done?

Who is it I would have to contact?

As i said i am looking for a diag tool as i dont have one yet.
Mileage wise its only on 73k. All other changes manual/auto are smooth.
Disks and Pads i will check with Dan.

After all of the above i need a new exhaust to release a bit of sound. Its waay to quiet lol.

Think I found the email address on the website or used the contact us form - cant remember, sorry.

Overall the IID tool is pretty good, perhaps a bit more costly than other diagnostic tools I have or my other cars but functionality is good. I would recommend you get one.

What diagnostics do you use?
I think there was another one but this was upwards of a grand which was way too much.
Cheerz to everyone that has answered.

The TSB is LTB00267 Second to First gear rollout harshness , If you get an iiD Tool from Gap ( and you should) the bluetooth version can re-flash the gearbox ECU with the updated software. Pat and the boys off ECU reflashing and it's way cheeper than going through the Stealers but to be honest I have no idea what the charge is . 2008 MY Supercharged

When you've finished washing your thing try the lambswool mitt on the car. Gives a good finish. Laughing Laughing John

I knew when I typed it that it sounded wrong but oh well.
Having said that I always wondered why it was under the car accessories section lol
