Hi All

Now that the MY17 has been announced, I'm speccing an order. Colour wise, I'm swaying towards Carpathian grey, but I'm tempted to opt for the contrast black roof with the sliding panoramic.

I appreciate colour schemes are very personal; but I would be grateful for any thoughts on whether black roofs 'work', or any downsides?

I think the black roof really works with tints - If I didn't have a black car, I'd have a black roof anyway

There are some other threads on sliding vs fixed - I have sliding, but would have preferred (in hindsight) fixed - I don't like it open & it's one more thing to go wrong.

I like the contrasting roof too but Carpathian is a lovely dark grey and I'm just not sure if you'll notice that the roof is a contrast in black but you could always be brave and go for a light contrast. As for the roof, I've had both and rarely used the opening function, so it's a horses for courses sort of question. I do think if you keep your cars a long time there's less to go wrong with the fixed but if you change before warranty is an issue then go for what makes you feel good.

Hate the contrast roof. (Okay, it's just fine on a Defender.) I think you loose the whole "floating roof" effect. I've vote body colour roof every time. I know others like them. It's your car.

Mine's Carpathian. I also considered a black roof but thought it might look a bit Chavvy. Each to their own

Black roofs look awful.

If I could order a car without a sunroof, I would. Unfortunately, all of our Rangies have had them as does our Forester. Ron B. VK2OTC

You could plastic coat it afterwards - i was thinking doing this with silver on my car  All my spelling errorz are belong to me!

That does take me back Stan!

As XXX says, get it with a body coloured roof and wrap it in black. You then can reverse it. Less easy the other way round.

I like that idea , roofs get ignored or abused anyway so a good way to protect it and you get the choice . 2008 MY Supercharged

That's mine just back from having its roof wrapped black. I'm rather pleased with the results. Sorry for poor pics. Car is filthy and it began to rain!! Current Fleet;
