RSE headphones & new key.

Hi all,

Please forgive me if this has been covered somewhere in the forums but my searches have served to further confuse me. This is not being helped by having to search on my smart phone whilst on holiday in sunny Cornwall.

I have just bought a January 2011 tdv8 autobiography and I have to say even the horrendous m5 traffic Jams making the journey 12 hours instead of 6 couldn't remove the grin from my ugly mug.

Anyway I'm waffling (sorry, just so chuffed). The question is, how can I find out what headphones it needs for the RSE as these were not supplied with the car. My searches have confused me as to whether they are infra red, Bluetooth or this white fire thing I've seen online?! Any way of identifying which I need?
If anyone down here in the West Country has some to sell by the way, please let me know I'm sure I can drive to you and hand over cash Smile

The car also only came with one key, can anyone advise if a new key is only available from a main dealer?

Again, my apologies if I've missed something really obvious. Thank you in advance for any advice given, it's much appreciated.

Cheers
Pete

Hi Abs66.

Two weeks into ownership of a 2008 4.2L Supercharged. Still grinning!

I was confused too by the array of headphones on sale on eBay. So I bit the bullet and orded them from Land Rover - ouch!
I'm also interested in your key solution as mine came with one key only too

I'll let you know if I find the answer elsewhere.
I'm doing my searches on a smart phone at the moment and my eyesight is not what it was so I may well be missing something!

How much where your headphones from land rover?

I had the same one key dilemma. Basically you need to buy an unprogrammed key that matches yours and then program it - its pretty simple to program it yourself using the IIDTool - must be I did it.

The key must be unprogrammed as this is a one time event and once done can't be undone, the difficulty I had (and still have) is getting the blade that fits properly in the key - still haven't got one.

Mine is this type, I only show it with the battery out because thats the photo I have.

Thanks!.......... I pick them up tomorrow so I can tell you exactly but it was c.£268 for two - that included a 15% discount as I ordered the pair.

Supershuttle - that sounds complicated - especially finding a blade to fit correctly Smile

Thanks for the key info supershuttle, where did you buy your key and how much was it if you don't mind me asking?

£268, seems expensive but I suppose original stuff carries that kind of premium.
If I could work out what was needed ie IR or Bluetooth etc I could start hunting alternative options. I'm going to read through hand book yet again, I'm sure I'm missing something 😕

Planned for 27th. Can't guarantee time though as traffic is likely to be horrendous!

Damn wasn't finished writing when that posted lol.
Thank you so much for the offer, I'll happily take you up on that.
What sort of money are we talking Craig so I can make sure I have cash ready for you?

As a matter of interest, do you have a tool / software that could tell if my gearbox software is upto date?

Cheers
Pete

The RSE headphones on a 2011 are whitefire. They have to be due to being switchable from side to side for the left and right screens. None of the other technologies have the ability to stream 8 channels (4 stereo pairs). I went through this with my 2011 S/C and the part number I bought was LR020214.
