England 2016 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Corris Grey

I'm getting rid of my Luxor VSE on Tuesday and I agree it's a good colour. That said I feel that privacy glass makes it look better still, so I'd go for that. The Tpms is a bit of a faff tbh and you might want to think of some of the much cheaper after market options if you really need it. It's a safety item that's worth having but you'll probably find that you just waft along, rather than pushing on in your Porche, where the option may be even more important. And as for the remote park heating fob yes my first L405 was an AB 13 plate and came with it and it's a good bit of kit on those winter morning, just hit the on switch 15 minutes before you want it and the ice is nicely melted.

I spoke to a neighbour this morning who's just bought his first Land Rover (an Evoque) and I said to him, just as I say to you now, the likelihood is that you'll stay loyal to the brand because they just do something for you that the others don't.

With changing my car on Tuesday, I have for the past couple of weeks looking around at what's out there and yes, there are faster, more economical and much more techy cars out there. And this even goes for the RRS (I nearly bought a used 16 plate AB last week)but in the end when you are in one of them other cars and you stop at the traffic lights, you look up and see a Range Rover and you wish you were sat where the other guy is. And that's why I'm picking up my third L405 on Tuesday. Good luck with your car, you'll love it. Thumbs Up

Thanks Basil - that's all really good to know. Funnily enough, it was the "new" RR which pulled me back to the green oval and I suspect you're right that it will keep me loyal. My wife had a Disco 4 prior to her current car but I'll be honest and say that turned out to be a right lemon. We bought is as a LR Approved Used car and had nothing but problems in the 18 months she owned it. The Freelander 2 she had before that though was a cracker.

I do take them offroad (well, I didn't with the Freelander!) and use them as utility vehicles when I'm doing stuff up the mountains so I think you're spot on to say they do something for me that other brands simply can't. My only challenge will be keeping the interior nice when we're carting around dinghies and climbing gear to the Western Isles!

I do get a nice feeling already sitting in the cabin at lights. It's a silly thing but it's just such a comfortable place to be...

Hi Cayman. I'm getting another VSE. My first L405 was the AB 3.0 very nice car in Orkney, it was a 13 plate. I kept that for nearly a year, which is pretty average for me. Bought my second one in December last year. Again the 3.0 because it's a real good, relaxed and quiet cruiser but that time I decided to try the VSE because the truth is that I used very few of the extra toys and wanted to see if it was okay for my needs. For instance the surround cameras were only ever put on when I had a minute to kill and the massage seats are just a little gimmicky for me. The park heating was useful for the week or two when our climate was cold enough but the big surprise was the winged headrests because of all of the extras you get on the AB, it was those little headrests that I missed the most.

To cut this longish story short, I found out after the nine months of owning my current 14 plate FullFat in Luxor that for me the SE was the perfect blend of luxury and equipment, save for what I've mentioned above. So much so that I investigated having a set of headrest retro fitted until I was told that it would be approx £2,500.00.

So on Tuesday I pick up my first Black car for a lot of years. It's yet another 3.0 tdi and it's a SE. Its a 15 Reg MY15.5 with the same 21" diamond cut alloys, that are on my Luxor car (in my view the best wheel they do for the car in term of looks and ride comfort) and those lovely winged headrests. It's also got atlas grilles which I like on the darker shades and as part of the absolutely great deal I got from Copley LR, I'm keeping my full size spare, to replace the space-saver and they are taking the side steps off my old car and putting them on the new one. Very Happy

Sorry to hear you had a lemon of a D4. Personally speaking I had the 13 plate D4 HSE Luxury and still think it's the best car LR make in terms of sheer value for money. Mine was a low mileage cracker and was fault free. What I didn't mention in my earlier post was that the car that I eventually bought, I very nearly didn't. I had made an offer on two almost identical RR VSE's and told both dealers that it was first come, first served. Both were good value cars but as I always say to the dealers, cheap cars are only cheap if the part ex is in line with the industry average. So when both gave a price to change figure that I judged wasn't good enough I declined both offers and rang a contact to place an order for the new D5.

As luck would have it my guy wasn't in and by the time he came back to me one of the dealers I'd spoken to that morning came back with a massively increased offer, which was a no brainer to me and so I bought it.

Just as well because I can keep my new one for twelve months or so and take my time to decide on a new D5 or the face lifted full fat.

Hi All

Agree with pjm, have had Sports for the past 10 years and still have a Defender but was starting to get a bit bored with the marque. Plus the last sport had let me down a couple of times.

However when visiting the local dealer two weeks ago to check out a new sport I fell for a Vogue on the forecourt. Wasnt for sale but alledgedley owner was in for part X. Last week saw it for sale !!!

Soooo I join your club today and collect the 15 plate VSE SDV8 - can't wait 😉

As requested some pics of the new (to me) car. Drove back from the dealers beautifully and looks really good but then it is very clean at the moment. Rybrook, Halifax looked after me ( and my Father) well. It's really nice to have the winged headrests back!

Thanks for that. I always considered that grey suited the car best but now I'm not so sure. I guess I'll just have to get used to washing it a bit more regularly Laughing
