paint trouble

I think I know the answer to this one, but would like an opinion off some of you knowledgeable people.
This started when I bought the car a couple of years ago. And it's gradually getting worse.

As you can see it only affects this part of the bonnet, and the top of the drivers door.
it appears that it is under the lacquer, I've tried cutting it, and waxing, but nothing seems to shift it.
can anyone give me an idea what is going on please.
Greg.

Would hazard a guess that the front corner has been repainted at some point and they have painted up to the crease in the bonnet, otherwise it would be more extensive

Think that the only way to get rid would to be have that corner sanded back, an isolating coat put on then repainted and lacquered, a good body shop will be able to sort it would have thought about £5-600. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Thanks for your answer nmj, I suspected as much.
fortunately I have a friend of the family who has or works in a body shop.
I've never met him, but by all accounts he is very good, failing that, I may source a second hand bonnet, as that may be cheaper.
I can see under the laquer what looks like sanding marks, so the suspicion of previous repainting I feel is spot on.
I'll have to see how I get on. If I do go for the respray, I will have the whole bonnet done, as there are stone chips and I wanted new lettering anyway.
cheers. Greg Thumbs Up
