Speedometer question

Hi All,

Just a quick question as I'm relatively new to l322 ownership having owned several older models of Range Rover.

The speedo on my 2003 v8 is showing about 10 - 20mph while the ignition is off, is this normal?

At the moment the car is off the road so I suppose I'm lucky I haven't been done for speeding, but I have seen some cars where the speedo sits at 10 mph while the ignition is off and when it reaches 10 mph road speed the speedo starts to work normally, but from the images I've seen on the internet none of the l322 speedos sit at 10 mph while resting.

So is mine defective?

Regards to all. ______________________________

Sounds like speedometer motor is playing up - I had this problem when I tried to fix the pixels and damaged the speedo - any of the companies that fix the pixel display will fit a new motor for you - about £100 to fit a new motor from memory. Current Fleet:-
2018 Discovery 5 3.0 HSE
2021 Ford Ranger Wildtrack
2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt 5.0 V8
1993 Defender 90 200TDI Pickup

I would agree , the pixel fault is guaranteed and without a speciall needle removal tool damage will occur

I damaged the temp motor whilst fixing the pixels, I purchased one from eBay for £20 and replaced it and now it works perfectly. It's not soldered to the board, so not as difficult as I first thought. It's held by 2 screws from the top and then it's just pushed in the holes.

Hi All,

I found out, to my expense, that a previous owner had been tinkering with the clocks and had not put the pointer back properly.

So I had to send it off to be fixed.

Never mind, we all inherit problems we don't want.......
