Very sorry to hear you are having problems while away Mark, it sounds as though you are getting good service from the dealer thankfully. Hope it all turns out ok without too much expense. Agueroooooooooo. 93-20

An encouraging result, Mark. Worth getting them to replace the sensor anyway for peace of mind? John

Just to get the diagnostic out of its box would be £50 in the UK and that's before they plug it in..... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

England 2012 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Buckingham Blue

I had the 'Restricted Performance' warning pop up spasmodically last week on my 4.4 TDV8.....but with no loss of performance.
Diagnosed by LRC ( my local Indy) as EGT sensor fault and told it would probably only effect the re-gen of the DPF in the exhaust.
Did over 300 miles trouble free at the weekend, both EGT sensors swapped under warranty and at no cost to me on Monday and all is now well.
Do hope your outcome will be as stress free Thumbs Up 2012MY Range Rover 4.4 TDV8 Vogue...now gone!

Update...

Visited the LR dealership in Olonne Sur Mer today. The chief technicion plugged in their diagnostic kit and 30 mins later reported that he'd cleared the Amber engine malfunction light and that the 'restricted performance' issue was very likely to be a faulty sensor. He added that there was no issue in driving the car as it is. The diagnosis was undertaken free of charge.

I plan to drive the car over next 2 days, if the restricted performance starts to occur whilst driving solo I'm going back to them with the fault active and asking them to replace the sensor.

Car washed on return to make me feel better

Good stuff must admit I have found French garages remarkably good and fair for my tuppence worth I would go with Weegie and get it done over there it will probably work out cheaper and at least you know the fault is cured - either way good luck

Update:

I've been back to the local dealer this morning and unfortunately they are fully booked and unable to assist for at least a week.

The 'restricted performance' error is now occurring quite readily as soon as I try to apply any power at all. The DPF Full error also appeared on the the return journey. This further supports the view that temperature sensor is the issue given what I've seen on this forum.

I've now contacted my Red Pennant insurance to see what they can do. The initial signs weren't good as the lady who I spoke to seemed very stressed out. Apparently she'd been trying to get garages to see another car in France and and had to beg the 10th one she spoke to to agree to look at a the car. It's holiday season in France and everyone appears to be booked up.

I was asked if I could extend my stay in France whilst they try to sort things out. I'm due back in the UK on Saturday.

Thanks to Weegie my car is now booked into the Nantes dealership on Thursday at 08:30 to have the required work undertaken.

Many thanks again John (Weegie). I hope you have a wonderful 80th birthday today.

Thanks also to Dan who assisted in identifying the required part number.

My Red Pennant insurance have stated that you guys have achieved more than they could have done in the time frame. They've also contacted the dealership and told them that they'll pay the first £250 labour costs.

Just one further question. Can I drive the car with the 'DPF Full' message showing?

depends if it says 'dpf full, refer to handbook' or 'dpf full see dealer'...the first can be sorted by a 20 minute drive at around 50mph to extinguish the warning triangle on the dash.. ... - .- -.
