Interior Modding...

Hi Guys,

For once here to tell you about a mod... I do appreciate its not to everyones taste...

If you followed any of my threads you will know I've been having gearbox issues and just before all these I invested in some 2012 light bumper etc so needless to say the range has sucked enough of my money for a while.

However the interior... I hate it and I'd planned to buy new trims, these are expensive though...

So heres what I've done/doing and what I have currently...

So I have the green dash top (yuk) ivory dash (not too bad) and black centre (ok) finished with cherry wood (yuk)

Door cards are green plastic with ivory inserts and cherry strips...

So far I have spent £30 on materials and £40 on parts (not necessary for all)

So I bought a small roll of hexes gloss black vinyl wrap with built in air release. This cost me just under £20 delivered.

2 cans of matt black generic Halfords paint - just over £10

And a used black leather dash top off fleabay - £40

Okay - so just to let you know I am not finished yet buy have made some progress.

First up I removed the passenger end trim, the two trims around the board monitor and the passenger floor trim.

I got the heat gun out cut to shape the vinyl and spent about 2 hours fitting on these parts.

They are nearly perfect I seay nearly the end pice has 5 3mm creased facing the door I just can't remove but they are really noticeable. I must say the was a b**strad to wrap due to the angles.

All the other parts are straight and are fairly easy - even easier if they are embedded the ends don't need to be so tidy as they are hidden.

So heres the before:

And the after (for now). I am awaiting the new dash top before doing the other end then ill report back with some pics and how we do the door cards.

Stan ... Please tell me you ordered hexis and with air release channels - hexis may all have these...

The reason I say this because my first attempt was with Kpmf wrap with no channels and I made a right pigs ear of it so researched this stuff - also I recommend a heat gun to stretch it a bit or hair dryer...

Good luck!

juet tried phase two of this - painted the nasty grey trim under the console with some Matt black Hanford paint - came out superbly - have also done the other side - door cards and centre console next!

It's funny how what you originally had is what I wanted when looking for a TD6...., I really like the cherry.....

I've got piano black in my 2011 and it just looks like plastic..... Growing on me though.....

I really like that wood option that looks a bit like dark blue. Can't remember what it is.....

Yep, I like the cherry, too. Mine has walnut (with the awful cheap painted surrounds around the door handles). Ron B. VK2OTC

I like cherry but hate the combination if I had black leather and surround I would be keeping it but Ivory , horrible green and cherry looks wrong in my opinion and piano black seemed to look nice for my new black/ Ivory setup - glad I've wrapped them though in case I have a change of heart Wink - what would be really nice would be some ebony trims
