I have just had a new DPF fitted at a main dealer, and on collecting the car this morning I have noticed that when stationary in DRIVE the car is sitting at about 1000RPMs, and in N its sat at around 950RPMs. This seems a lot higher than usual - I am sure it used to sit about 650.

Its also meaning whenever I take the break off the car jolts forward a bit as its wanting to be off. Whilst having a bit of a play around to see if I could work out that was wrong I noticed that if I turned the climate control completely off the revs dropped down to 650/700, but the with the climate on it wasn't idling anywhere near 700.

Does anyone know if this seems normal or not?

Can be normal. The ECU raises the idle speed to allow the fan to work properly (that is if you have a model with the engine driven viscous fan). This cools the aircon condenser.

If my 04 4.4 has been sitting somewhere with the doors open or not locked the battery level drops and the car will automatically raise the idle until the battery has regained a decent charge, normally after a bit of a run. It's normally after it's been to the garage and left sitting around while they work on it.
I first had it after we fixed the low ratio switch so I started it, put it in low, engaged drive and nearly went through my mates garage door due to the high revs

It seems to have sorted itself out after a blast up the A23 last night so fingers crossed all sorted now. I didn't fancy another trip to the dealer for more warranty work. Have to say the LR Extended have been great so far as they have covered everything including the replacement DPF which the bill to them was just over £2400!
