Many years ago we were on a distillery tour (Dalwhinnie if my memory serves me) and the tour guide was telling us about the "3 drops" malarkey. We all booo-hissed but the advice was that it helped to "explore the flavoured" without affecting them Shocked

Anyway, went back to the caravan with a freshly bought single malt to test the theory and do you know what?? Didn't make a sh...t of difference Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Perhaps it's down to the side of dram I pour Thumbs Up

Must have nearly 40 different single malts now which are all "enjoyed" but none are taken with "3 drops" Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Back in a Defender!!

^ I've been to many a Whisky Society tasting event and suffered the pompous talk about a splash or three drops to kill the burn of the alcohol and bring out the inherent flavours....call me a philistine makes very fine whisky taste like watered down whisky me.

I did laugh at how red with anger one host went when I relayed how I had one of the last bottles form the original Rosebank Distillery (Camelon, Falkirk) and had opened it to try it. That's tantamount to sacrilege, apparently. Rolling with laughter
