Presuming JLR dealers are similar to BMW/Merc which I know better but you probably hit a sweat spot where:

- the dealer has to start paying for a car after a certain period of time it sitting there
- they have to have certain cars available on show at the dealership and so often pre order replacements assuming the one they have will sell so probably another similar car due in
- the dealership has taken a hit and is making nothing on the car. They make good money on the addons you have taken and that is there profit on this deal
- time of year ie a lot of new car buyers will be holding out for the 65 plates. It's the start of the holiday season so July/Aug will be slow for them and they have targets to meet
- you are in a position to actually do a deal and not a tyre kicker ' dreamer

I've been in the same position myself with Merc and BMW and even changed cars when I was not planning to in the past as they offered me a "no brainier" it was cheaper for me to change than keep my old car Laughing

Enjoy the car, it is always sweeter when you feel you have got a great deal out of it, makes the hit on depreciation a lot easier to swallow Thumbs Up

Please feel free to tell me to mind my own business but was there finance involved in your purchase ? I have just heard from my dealer that Land Rover (assume combined with Finance) have put together a much bigger deposit programme to clear some of the MY stock in anticipation of MY17. Just interested to know how much I can push dealer.

Well sought of, I wanted a straight cash deal, but taking out finance Land Rover give £2,500 towards the purchase and so does the dealer, so 5K discount. Plus I had an additional 15k from the dealer.
I was told I should pay at least 6 instalments before paying off finance, but after the first payment the deal is locked so to speak, after this first payment Land Rover can not ask the dealer for their 2500 back.

So yes finance but for one or may be two months (goodwill!!!)

Hope this helps. Can't wait counting down the hours!

Ohh yeah, any advice on picking it up? Things I should check or ask? 2010 defender utility
