Refurbing Sand interior

Having found the link on fullfat for the foundry paint interior, I wanted to share this find at hobbycraft.

http://www.artdiscount.co.uk/paints-medium...400ml.html

If you look at the pics attached, the sand colour is so close to the original colour which has been so far impossible to find a code for from Land Rover.

I plan to respray speaker covers and possibly revamp seat rim surround when I either rebuild or find a better donor.

Tins are only £5.25! or £8.50 from hobbycraft...

Are you looking at 'ELM' 8000 as the match for sand? Travelling around in circles again.

I am very interested in this thread! I have been looking for the SAND and PARCHMENT paint colours for a long time! I even managed to track down and speak to the original paint supplier Land Rover used for the paint for these parts but they would not sell their paint directly as they say it has to be professional applied due to the chemicals they use.

Keep us updated on this!

PS ELM looks like parchment rather than sand

Just buy the proper paint from here...

http://www.furnitureclinic.co.uk/Land_Rove..._Chart.php

I covered my seat trim in vinyl then painted it to match, this paint will also do plastic if you use the adhesion promoter..

The lower front door speaker covers are available separately from JLR, about £20 each.... not worth painting the old ones... Thumbs Up

Do you have the link to the promoter? Also can this be sprayed rather than brushed?

Best to spray it.... read all their info on doing the job, lots of how to's on the site...use their cleaner, use adhesion promoter, mix the paint with hardener, dilutes with water, I use an air brush to do it... looks superb, seems to last well.... Thumbs Up Pete

Yes, it's a latex paint so will stick to most things, it does scratch off like the original stuff they used but it is very good, as always preparation is the key to a good job....

As I said earlier, I covered my seat switch panel with vinyl and painted it and a small bit has worn off now as my large behind squashes the seat against it every time I get in and out, the passenger surround was just tatty so I sanded it smooth and just painted the plastic and it is fine, still looks excellent months later...

I found you need to dilute the paint to "runny single cream" consistency and use lots of light coats drying them with a hot air gun, maybe 10 coats to get good coverage , it's amasing how resilient it is once dry interior cleaners and leather wipes etc have no effect on it...

Colour looks different to the seat here but the seat was filthy and untouched, when cleaned up and sorted the colour match from Furniture clinic was spot on...

Hi Martin,

I have checked my pics and order it is CL8300 and you have to scroll down the long colour list, it is not Sahara sand either.

All the best

Bob
