Read that.... Bit of a wishy washy recommendation though. Swings and roundabouts. Better this on one that on the other.

If I had 50k to spend on a car then it wouldn't be on a Volvo. They forget to take depreciation on the new car into account, which would make the Volvo far more expensive. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

One reason I stopped reading the tripe some years ago, they have absolutely no clue what people want and like, they just try to make headlines to sell magazines...

I mean, come on, how many people think.... I want a Range Rover L405.... oh, no, wait a minute a Volvo would be so much better.....!!?!?!??!?!?? Pete

The 1 major factor they didn't take into account is the "desirability factor". Dispationately, the Volvo may be the better car but when you look out the window and see a 405 in the drive, or turn round to have a glance at your pride and joy when you've parked up, It makes you think "yes, I picked the right car". Not sure the Volvo would give you that feeling.

Or maybe it's just me? Whistle Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

There is a very simple and totally indisputable truth, when it comes to styling, LR have got it bang on for large 4x4's (ever since time began!), everyone else is trying to catch up.

The Volvo is a damn nice car for sure. I drove one and loved it. But I love my Range Rover more, simple.

Plus....it's a bit like my Skoda. Better than a Passat say many, because it is basically a Passat with more room in the back and nicer leather. Yeah, but it's still a Censored Skoda. Laughing

People who just want a new plate car on the drive will buy the Volvo........just to show off to the neighbours Whistle
Those who know better will buy the FFRR Thumbs Up
Even the L322 is a better buy in my view (but then I have just bought a 2012 Westminster so am probably biased Very Happy ) 2021 D350 Fifty Edition

Sometimes publications will deliberately make the wrong decision on a something vs something or say a top 10 so people comment on their site, tweet about it ("why isn't...in the top 10 cities, or I can't believe that made it to the list). Basically it helps them promote their story.

The XC90 is a super car but an L405 is certainly as good and more desirable.

And remember, the magazine is supported by ads from companies that sell new cars.

Just about every car maker has raised their game in the past few decades and there are very few cars now that, if used and maintained sensibly, would still have plenty of useable life after 3 years. And with depreciation, you're always going to be able to buy a nicer 3 year old car than brand new car for the same money.
