I agree entirely, the reason for posting was for a general conflab, it would be a very quiet site if we all simply got the codes read and fixed the problem

Before replacing the compressor remove the gold colour cone silencer from it and try that mine was blocked, had same problem and even more if I had a trailer on, can't remember the code it gave but I only found the awnser by googling the code and found lots of info about remove or replace it, it worked for me so I just left it off |

I had the top off the compressor unit - All seems very clean.the car had just been driven and the compressor was not that hot which is good.

Well try going to Neutral and putting the handbrake on when at rest (best practice!) See if that makes a difference?

The compressors shut off automatically to prevent overheating (error message appears on dash to a similar description) so I wouldn't imagine you would feel excessive heat off of one. The plastic piston ring inside the air compressor will wear out eventually. I got about 100,000 miles out of mine but a pin hole leak in o/s/f causing excessive work load on compressor speeded up failure in my opinion. Are there any leak noises coming from bags when raised and on a jack? That's when I discovered my leak '55 Java Black Vogue |
