Brake Squeal and Compressor Air

Last night, used an air compressor to blow air into the outer face of the brake discs near the 6 pot Brembo callipers and what a lot of dust flew out!

Didn't manage full access to all areas but squeal was almost non existent this morning.

When i wash the car i always jet wash the brake caliper making sure i clear out the crap from shield as well.
The only time i get brake squeel is when there is a lot of brake dust build up.

Blowing air can cause a lot of dust but jet washing contains it within the water.
Some times there is a small river of brown flowing from under the car.

Interesting, if only I had a compressor!

Mine emits a loud brake squeal when braking at low speed like coming to a stop, and it's been like it a month now and I haven't bothered to have a look! Did notice that there are no mud shields on the front so I guess they probably just need a clean, something else to add to the list Neutral

Going to get ceramic paste and try that too if ever get round to it. Mechanic says big car big Brembo calipers means that when cold, they will tend to squeal. Here what he's saying but it didn't do it last year. Much better since blew the brakes through with air though Thumbs Up

Took the front wheels off today and it took 10 minutes on each side of blowing the compressor air through all aspects of the brakes before the dust, crud and crap stopped flying out... also took 10 minutes blowing each nostril to stop the tissue paper going black thereafter Laughing

For the first 10 minutes of driving after that... not a peep... then ... a few wee squeals started to creep back... Nowhere near as prominent as before but...

Ceramic paste, I promise to buy this week!

Thumbs Up

I wonder if some of the issues are due to the shield holding in the dust. What's the point of the shield anyway? On previous landies I've always ended up reoving them. V8 or else ...
