Does any aftermarket grill improve a 02-05 L322?

As above gents, do any other front grilles improve the dates front end of the first of the L322's? Ive seen one that makes it look like the 05 onwards but it sits on top of the headlights, so when you view the car from the side it looks awful.

I'd love a 2010+ facelift but finances dont permit it at present

'Improves' is a very subjective thing.....

If you want it to look like the facelift, then it really needs to sit over the lights to make them appear shaped. Otherwise you need to stick to a rectangular grille, which IMHO look odd in anything other than the original factory finish.

There are plenty who will disagree - it's all down to personal taste.

i agree with the big A, but there are many different rectangular grills on ebay from colour code to shiney bling ones.. ... - .- -.

Each time I've seen a 02-05 front end that's been modified it just doesn't sit right. The aftermarket ones I have seen are very square and none as nice as the factory finish. The newer style sits proud of the lamp and again it doesn't look right.

Maybe a colour code could give it a lift ? Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

I've tried several options for my 04 plate..

I knew someone who had a spare over-grille and tried it for a while. I modified the headlight wiper blades to match the curve of the grille and thought this looked better than sticking up at a funny angle, though I did think that £195 for the grille was quite expensive. Maybe it works better in grey because the grill surround matches the paintwork.

I had an 02 plate for a while that someone had converted to the 06-09 look, and it does make the car look newer. So recently I've gone for the same conversion on mine. The parts were £650 on eBay, plus an induction filter for £45, and did the conversion myself, which wasn't too tricky. I've sold the old parts for about £400 so it's not that much more expensive than buying the over-grille.

I've included photos below of before, with the over-grille, and with the conversion, and make your choice which you think looks best.

This is the grill that came already on my car when I purchased it, not sure what or where it came from, but I think it looks ok!

It is a personal thing, for me stock or stock coloured coded works best on the 02-05 .

+1 Like mine standard although I have changed my rear lights for facelift. It was as a result of condensation in the originals and the later ones came up from another member.

As Joe says - personal choice. John
