FYI Mine has no viscous, just twin electrics, I have the 80deg mod, temp sits at around 90deg in normal driving, I have the fans set to come on at around 100deg, takes a while sat still for it to get there and bring the fans in... In the winter I barely hear them come on...

Right finally got an update, pulled the top apart and decided to do breather pipes, oil separator and rocker covers at the same time. So fitted silicon breathers as originals had dissolved completely, also oil separator was blocked so that was cleaned out, now for the fun part, drained radiator and removed coolant cap so no vacuum lock. The coolant drained out and the bobbing cork in the indicator stayed afloat???, removed pipe from bottom of coolant bottle and, still bobbed away rammed my screwdriver up said hole and coolant started to trickle!! So l removed the tank and decided to purchase a new one. The stat was removed and as l was modding to the cooler 80 degree stat any way put the wax/heater part on the bench and set about heating it up with a blow lamp, the little pin did open slightly but even when at serious heat would not have been enough to open fully. So I have deduced l had 3 main issues, stat not opening fully, some sort of previous rad weld or equivalent gunking round the whole system and a blocked header tank. All in all very lucky l have not got some serious damage. I have given it several flushes and she seems to bleed up relatively easy, this may be because l can leave the cap off as the stat opens before boiling point now so got more chance to get the air out. Not antifreezes it yet as just gonna give it one more drain and then fill it up. But now she runs at a constant 90-92 degrees. Left it ticking over with air con on so as to give it a bit of labour for around a half hour and she never budged, as l was a bit wet my mate took it for a leisurely drive and when he got back the brakes smelt a bit warm..... |

Glad you sorted it, gauge gets to normal around 80deg and doesn't move off normal till around 120deg so it doesn't tend to move much at all... |

Thanks Pete, l don't know if you did but as it is running less heat, i.e. less pressure l fitted a new 140 cap instead of the original 200 and after an hour of ticking over and running was able to remove the cap with a slight hiss and a few seconds to de pressurise. Would not have been able to do that before. |

Yh thanks ian, as sson as l realised there was an issue with the tank it got binned, so thanks for the warning. Just took so long as had to wait for stat to come from prague. |
