Interesting. Maybe it's the LR big brake upgrade somebody mentioned on another thread...

England 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Tonga Green

Neutral Have just flicked through the 2011my Range Rover brochure....

...there does not appear to be any mention of a brake upgrade for either model (4.4 TDV8 or 5.0SC)

Indeed you are correct Fox - the standard 4.4 TDV8 Vogue is equipped with 19" wheels as standard and listed within the technical specification it states front brakes are 6 piston fixed caliper / ventilated disc...

...these same brakes are used on the 5.0V8 Supercharged.

The 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE spec, 4.4 TDV8 Autobiography spec and the 5.0 V8 Supercharged Autobiography spec are all fitted with 20" wheels as standard.

Shocked I have also noticed that each of the new 2011my Range Rovers only come with a reduced size 'space-saver' spare wheel - surely not!?!?

That fact alone might indicated these latest Rangies with the 6 pot calipers would indeed be able to fitted with 19" wheels - and could answer umbertobs question....

... I really don't like the idea of a Range Rover having to use a 'space-saver' wheel however Whistle

It might be a ridiculous set up like i had in my old Civic Type-R.

The spacesaver wouldn;t fit over the front brakes, so in the event of a front puncture, the process was as follows.

remove rear wheel
Place spacesaver on rear
remove front wheel
place wheel removed from back on front.

Not what i fancied doing on the hard shoulder !!

slightly off topic but anyone who has upgraded from 18'' to 20'' on the pre-facelift and has still got an 18'' as a spare should make sure they have the 18'' wheelnuts available if they need to fit it..i did this and was un-aware until that bulb lit up on top of my head.... ... - .- -.

I have just picked up (Saturday) my 2011MY Vogue, it has 19" wheels and these certainly fit over the Brembo brakes. Think I posted this before. The Brembo brakes are now, in the UK, standard for the new TDV8.

Have to agree on the space saver too. This was one of the options I certainly went for as wanted full size spare, at £200 it's still chaper than a single tyre. Although there is reasoning both for and against. My wife would no way be able to llife the full size spare out of the boot and fit it if needed. She could with the space saver.

My reasoning to go for it was the fact that on space saver have limited speed with it on. If I'm abroad and on way back to ferry/euro tunnel could be pressed for time, having reduced speed could make me miss the boarding. With full size there is no impact. This also applies to any situation where have to be somewhere on time.

Assuming a full sized wheel was to heavy for the wife to lift and she managed to fit a space saver, what would she do with the full size wheel?

My advice to swmbo is to phone the road side recovery and ask them to change the wheel.

well thats obvious - exactly what all women would do - leave the wheel at the side of the road Wink

The 2011 i recently test drove , sales guy said they don't fit Brembos to their FFRR's now as he said "why advertise and pay another company for brakes that we can do ourselves" Thumbs Up

For the same reason people liked to have Connolly leather or Wilton carpets in their cars?

It's nice to know you're getting the bets of the best sometimes and not just something out of the parts bin Smile
