Think I ordered them just before Christmas, took about 2-3 days. Most places here (UK) opened on Monday 4th.
I suspect its the volume of post thats slowed things down. Never had any problems with Duckworths.

As a new owner I read this thread with interest and had a look at mine under the rubber cap, just in time I think... The pivots were solid and the fixings were spectacularly corroded. I doused them in Plusgas and ordered some new straps.

One of them was so badly corroded that the Allan key couldn't fit into the hex slot due to corrosion and it was bonded to the pivot. I loosened the fixing by turning the whole pivot and bolt and then had to cut off the strap bit with a small hacksaw and undo the bolt with the remains of the pivot and bearing as one.

I was a bit worried about what state the captive fixing would be in but it was perfect, so just a case of refitting the new ones, smeared in grease under the rubber cup/cover though!

Looks like I've just joined a not very exclusive club as my nearside one broke today. I was clambering in and out of the boot having cleaned up the tailgate cover and not wanting to put it back on dirty plastics.

Sickening bang and it was broken where the rust was worst.

Must get the WD on the screws for a while before changing. 2017 5.0 Autobiography Supercharged

Now changed, and with liberal use of silicone and copper grease, should maintain the structure for some time.

Although I bought 2 straps, I only used 1 as the offside one was in perfect condition. I suspect it had been changed fairly recently because it was in fine condition. That one is now also coated in "product" to keep it tip-top. 2017 5.0 Autobiography Supercharged

So just got new straps delivered from Dan. Old ones have hex bolts, new are proper bolt heads, looks like they are handed with Lr038048 as right hand. Question being one end has a nipple end old ones don’t have this , does it fit on body or gate end? Or do I have the wrong one sent? Thanks in advance

How much are the straps nowadays? Previous cars:

I think you'll find the nipple is to fit the soft opening kit to the right hand side. Have a look at the pics in this thread.

It helps damp the tailgate and stops it slamming down. Ours works well. Can be retro-fitted I believe and read somewhere that Dan does the damper kit. Can't find the cost I'm afraid.
