Creaking Powerfold mirrors | |
Since I bought my car the PX side mirror was always slower to fold in/out than the driver's side one. Recently it started to develop a distinct creaking/scratching noise which was pretty painful to listen to.
Upon investigation the plastic parts that make up the base of the mirror seem to have come adrift and are twisted, thereby rubbing against the main part of the mirror in the slide/hinge area. I tried to place the parts back together but the plastic seems to have gone out of shape and will not return to normal.
A phone call to the dealer and it's booked in to hopefully have the wing mirror replaced in it's entirety. They didn't sound very surprised when I told them what was wrong.
Just before anyone asks, this is not the result of damage, it just seems to be a fault. Discovery 4 HSE
