That is the way forwards Thumbs Up

Dump the stuff you don't like and do something you will. Kefalonia is lovely. Where are you staying? There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Yeah, getting there Stan. Interview was pushed back to tomorrow (HR Lady not available apparently) but booked the day off and going to take Mrs Dom out tomorrow night.

Feeling a bit more upbeat mate, especially now I know we're off on a small holiday. That's the other thing of course, you know we loved caravanning, but after the nightmare builder messing us around last year (house extension) we ended up living in the thing for 5 months instead of 4 weeks. Now I can't bear to look at the thing so all the weekends away we used to have just didn't happen this year.

Then there was the job at JLR. 7 months of the worst job on the planet followed by 5 months of extreme pressure standing up the systems for a new challenger bank. Mental year really and in the middle of it all I lost my dog to old age.

So when I analyse it all I'm surprised I've kept going this long to be honest Laughing

But, there is light at the end of it all and there are plenty of people who are way worse off than me so I just decided to stop feeling sorry for myself and effing well man up.

Cheers for asking mate. Thumbs Up

As for Kefalonia, we've rented a villa and a car. Antipata is the town name, although I don't care really as long as it doesn't rain Rolling with laughter

Dom, sorry, missed this post.... glad you have made some decisions, it's easy to get stuck in a rut... A nice holiday, a good clear out and taking back control is definitely the way forward...

Now, I know you are a fare hike from here but I am willing to come down and exercise the SC and if you really beg me the Aston as well... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

You're always welcome here mate and more than welcome to play with the 'Charger. We have some nice lanes just up the road in Derbyshire too. Might be a good day out.

As for the Aston.....you might need to prise the key from the Wife's cold dead hand Rolling with laughter

Hey Dom, sorry to find this post now.Sounds like you were / are heading for a burnout more than depression.

Certainly time to change things as a serious burnout creeps up slowly and almost unnoticed but then never really leaves. I have had a light one a LONG time ago and recovered fine (vowed to never let work become too important in my life) but I have seen a few people that have not recovered from a serious burnout. Time to take a step back with work if you can, reduce hours or days and spend more time on relaxing with the family and on your own. Not easy to do but you already made a big step with recognizing that something is up and that is good news.

I have seen depression up close and know how devastating it is and can recommend to get help for that if it is the case, not only for you but for your family as well.

Good luck and I hope that things get better sooner rather than later. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Sometimes talking to a professional one to one can make you realise that your life really is not as bad it seems. No idea why it does not work with a friend, relative or wife but you need to book an appointment with a Professional Therapist via a GP. My bet is one or two sessions and you will be fine and thinking differently. Thumbs Up

Sorry to read this.

I wouldn't rule out mental and possibly physical exhaustion as the cause, either.

I know from my own experience that I become immensely grumpy and downbeat when I'm really tired. Sometimes, a really decent night's sleep sorts it, but other times a greater duration is needed.

Your holiday sounds ideal. Thumbs Up Si. <This is my name.

I've no personal experience of requiring or providing treatment but offer the following:

A self-employed stonemason who had been doing some work for me disappeared for a few weeks. On his return he explained that it had all been getting too much for him. He is very good at his work and so in high demand, pressure to keep everyone happy (I hadn't been hassling him but others had). His wife, a good and wise woman, told him he had to switch his phone off and go on holiday with her. He did so and that helped a lot. He also reviewed his circumstances and made some changes regarding staffing etc which allowed him to get more into control of his life. I think that provided one is in control being very busy is OK, but being out of control is stressful, especially long term.

So your strategy of (1) taking a break and (2) reviewing things and making changes so as to be more in control seemed to work there and I hope it works for you too. Only Range Rovers since 1988
