How to enable passenger airbag....?

The little display near the sunroof switch tells me that the passenger airbag is off.

According to the manual, there is a key lock to turn when you open the passenger door. That looks like it's in the ON position... Turned it to the other position.... Messages says it's still off.....

Any ideas?

Don't want passengers killed to death.....

Is it off when someone is sat in the seat and buckled in? I think it might be occupancy sensing no one (or too light a person) and disabling the airbag

I am looking at the display when the ignition comes on...... There is no one in the passenger seat, so will have to borrow a person and do a test...... Didn't think it was that intelligent.

What if a nice young good looking lady was to parachute in through the sunroof during my journey? The air bag would still be disabled..... Does it only check on startup.

Good point though..... I will give it a go.....

I don't mind popping round and checking your airbags, nice solid wall at the end of your street.... Whistle Whistle

Or shall I send my mate round, that's a parachute she's holding.... Thumbs Up

I'm probably teaching my granny to suck eggs here but does the light come on at startup but then go out five seconds later ? because they do that as part of the self test . 2008 MY Supercharged

Censored Pete, whilst I appreciate your offer, I'm not sure she's gonna fit through the sunroof.... Thumbs Up

It's the message near the sunroof switch Axle..... Not in the cluster.... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Tried with someone in the passenger seat and it's still the same.....

Can a setting somewhere override the key switch airbag on/off ?

Personally if you can turn the pass airbag off in a vehicle I tend to.
It means should someone shunt you and the front bags go off the passenger one doesn't write the car off as a lot do when they take out the dash panel and require about 10+ hours and a very expensive dash to replace.

It's getting more common for cars over a few years old to get written off when the airbags deploy as not only does the airbag ecu often need replacing (£££) the dash does and the screen which then costs even more mega bucks in labour alone. A few bodyshop owners I know do the same in their own cars and they drive much more expensive machines than I! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

If your sat properly away from the dash and have a seatbelt on then you'd be fine.

Yes you might have a sorer neck but hey ho your neck is still going to let your head fling forward till it hits the airbag if your that close and then bounce it back to your seat... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

With the amount of recalls on vehicles and good old landrover quality and care about older stuff it's upto each driver to be aware of the risks..

Even Honda can't get it right so what chance do we have lol FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
