The coolant inlet and outlet marked yellow, I don't know direction, and of interest the have a small thermostat fitted in the end so careful when remaining the hoses, I broke one. The exhaust flows in the direction of the orange arrows. The exhaust gas is cooled in the cooler pipe section, and in turn the cooler gas flows through the valve, but there is no coolant going through the valve itself. I've been told by a tech the hoses can bypass the cooler, maybe some pipes connectors required. If the egrs have been decommissioned it can save a potential problem later. |

Pete I'd be looking in these two spots with an inspection camera to try isolate a coolant leak.

If you take the engine cover off, and whilst kneeling on a bar stool, lean over the engine and look down the area around the oil filter, you may see the red crust of evaporated coolant.

Thanks. I looked in those three places as best I could with the torch. No sight of any coolant residue. I'll look again when I get a camera probe. ______________________________

The camera arrived today. I had a good look around both sides of the driver side intercooler hose at the manifold end, and behind the oil filter housing, and both EGRs (the inner side). I found nothing except a bit of oil residue between the oil filter and oil cooler (I think it's the oil cooler).

Thanks Paul. Yes level drops back on a longer drive. Around the block no change.

Maybe try fast idling to see if coolant goes down.

I was thinking of a way to see if egr cooler(s) potentially leaking.
