Rock sliders and rack

Finally, some time🙂 Rock sliders are all but done! Connect using factory side bar mounts and go overtop existing plastic rocker guards, no cutting drilling etc. Just need to laser out front piece of rack with lexan covered cutouts for lights and can prime and linex all this stuff Thumbs Up front and rear bumper guards next!

Hi,

Looks good, can't see what they are made out of but my rock sliders are 80mm x 40mm x 4mmwall box section with 6mm plate welded to original sill, tree sliders are 50mm x 4mm tube....

I've bent mine whilst rockcrawling so I would be careful if I were you.... Thumbs Up

Thank you Very Happy

They are pretty light. 1/8" plate folded is the base then schedule 40 pipe. I made them just so that if I hit something I can stop and not damage body, maybe should call them sill protectors. I wouldn't slide over rocks or logs with them for sure. Wanted to leave oem plastic etc inplace. Think I will line them with rubber so not to damage the oem plastic.

I've hit the age where I drive by sound because can't see so well anymore Very Happy

Rack is mainly only to hold this canoe so pretty light again.

You should be fine then... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Mine bent when I fell off a two foot lump of rock and the whole weight hit the rear of the sill... all 2829kg of it.... Rolling Eyes Pete

Haylands

Just read your thread. I was originally going to pop out those plastic rivets on underside of factory sill protectors and insert thread rivets and make stand off pieces but its a lot of work if retaining the plastic. I should pop them off though and spray in cavity wax like you did, just a smart idea, and check for rust but kind of afraid to look. I had a metal shop convert my drawings to CAD and form up the plate, I should really convert it to PDF and post it.

Just read through topix land rover at bull bar mounting, I see there is something behind the bumper skin to bolt to. They drill holes through bumper which isn’t a big deal really or I can maybe make brackets. Time to buy more pipe Smile, I already have my design. My only worry now is wether the rack will be quiet or noisy, guess time will tell. And mounting hight, the rack itself is 2” tall and I made it so it could mount tight to roof or hover above, i’m thinking like 1/2” above.

Your in England, wish I was on that side of the planet! Thinking of ancestry residency to England, grand mother is British and have great aunts there.
