Thanks a lot and the advice on car thefts. I managed to get insurance and no tracker so I do hope all is well.

A couple more pictures although it must look the same as so many out there.

My 3 year old is having issues getting in without the side steps and my 6 year old keeps falling out when he gets out. He blames me as since he was born he has only been in the old car which had them.

I'm now thinking of steps, is taking the deployable route worthwhile?

The deployable ones are neat - you can't really see them when fitted, but there are down sides....

If you're too quick to try to get out - they ill catch the back of your calf as you stretch your leg for the road - though I'm sure you'd get used to that, slow down, and position your foot to meet the step.

If you open the door to reach into the car for something, watch your shins !

They cost something line £3k - though you may find them cheaper.

Fixed are the opposite - fixed - so if you like the look, then they are a good option & cheaper too.

I have deployable but have them turned off as I just didn't get on with them & don't really need them - I rarely transport anyone very old or very young and if I do, then parking up in access mode is adequate.

Thanks Alastair really helpful, I'm 6ft6 and my wife is tall so it literally is for my 3 year old for about a year and the wicked mother in law which really is not worth £3k.

Used park assist this morning my son was very impressed!

I had the fixed side steps retrofitted by my dealer for my six year old daughter and am very pleased with them (I actually like the look as well)

If you don't mind how they look, they're a much more cost effective option which make access much easier, plus it allows me to step out of the vehicle as opposed to sliding off the leather seat, hopefully reducing wear and tear in the process 2015 SDV8 Autobiography - Black, Cirrus, 22" Style 707 Wheels
