List of Owners with IID prepared to help others ?

In a previous life whilst owning a BMW I used another excellent forum where members with diagnostic tools were listed.
Is there such a thing on FF ? I've searched the forums but found nothing so far.

Thanks for confirming that so quickly Stan...
Is it something that would be of use for owners or something that could be considered ?

the iidtool , which the majority of members have , can read and clear faults so that would help but anything else like adjusting settings in the ccf would have to be done by someone with a pro iidtool..

as for a list, i feel that some members might want to keep their anonymity ...there are a few members that will help as much as possible..

although the bt iidtool is £400, it is a worthwhile purchase and a very sellable item when you leave the FF fold.... ... - .- -.

I think its a good idea, if members are willing to help others they register and if not they dont register Smile Simples.

If its a Sticky it will help and maybe a googelmap where members just get their town put on instead of their exact location would help to as you could look at the map and see who's nearby very easily. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

All noted Stan. It is on my shopping list for the future but there are a few other things needing sorted / tidied up first on my new chariot.

Is it locked to a VIN?

I have a T4 (as soon as I can get a replica of a DTC0065A red connector sorted). Ron B. VK2OTC

It's locked only for enhanced functions - standard diagnostic stuff like fault codes and live values are available for all. Thumbs Up

I happily offer a hand to nearby members when I can. Smile You'll note many of us over on Disco3 have the IID sticker thingy in our signatures.

Yes, the Non-pro version is (single)VIN locked, although I think GAP will allow you to add another VIN for a fee. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
Had- 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE in Java black
Had - 2007 S/C in Stornoway Grey

It's £60 for an additional VIN - so makes sense if there is someone local to you - it will usually cost you that to get something changed by a dealer.

Just note that the IID BT is limited to 10 licenses, IIRC. I'm not sure what GAP's policy would be on shuffling them around thereafter. Question

The flashing functions should be treated with extreme caution if working on other people's vehicles on a non-professional basis, and I would not consider doing it without a suitable power supply for the job - without taking applicable precautions, one has to be prepared to take responsibility if it goes wrong. Please know what you are getting into before offering this to other members, and make sure that they are aware of the risks too, even though the IID is very reliable. Always check the voltage, check the voltage and check the voltage! There are also site sponsors (more so on Disco3) who provide the software updates and so it's important not to undermine their sponsorship. For these reasons, while I will offer diagnostics to members, I don't offer software flashing or CCF updates via the forums, it is always free and I'm careful not to take business from paying sponsors. I'm not sure that I am understanding GAP IID BT properly......

It is VIN locked but can it be used for basic reading on another vehicle or is it the case that by being locked to a VIN, it cannot be used on another vehicle unless another licence is purchased?

It can read any vehicle but is VIN locked for updates

I completely agree with Lost For Words - I sold my IID when I sold my L322, but all I would ever do is allow someone else to use it for free - never charge and never do it for them Thumbs Up

When I purchased mine 2nd hand and transferred the ownership to myself I didn't give GAP a vin number for my FF so how would that be vin locked? Range Rover quotes.....

The tool does the VIN-locking when you activate it (and also backs up your suspension and CCF settings). Thumbs Up

Giantlandyman - fault code reading and clearing, live values, component activation and service routines (e.g. sevice reset, FBH test and prime, autobox reset) are all available on any covered vehicle - so a BT model will cover all L322 variants, D3, D4, L320, L405, L494, FL2, Evoque and Defender Puma for these functions.

The enhanced functions are CCF editing and ECU flashing, calibrations (inc. suspension, TF box and steering) and key programming which are all VIN-locked (except the Pro), but you can buy an additional license for any of the covered vehicles.
