How difficult is the 5.0 Timing Chaing Guide replacement?

I'm having a hell of a time registering for topix. Which forces your country selection as UK, doesn't have forgotten User Name functionality, apparently doesn't have manned support and the automated email I get points me to an error: "IT Service Desk: http://itservicedesk.jlrint.com " -- The server can't be found.

All that aside.

How hard is changing the timing chain guide rods out from plastic to the metal versions in the 5.0? Is this a DIY job?

I have a pretty well equipped garage and do nearly all maintenance including suspension pieces, tranny diff fluids etc but have little insight into this job with no access to topix.

Mods: this applies to the L405 as well doesn't it?

TIA

I have had the chain tensioner guides replaced under warranty on my 2011 SC and the whole front part of the engine had to come apart. Took the dealer about a day and a half. There are other posts about this in this section.

Thamks for the response, will look for more. I checked out topix after getting the country sorted. It looks like it is in some cases harder and in some ways easier than I thought it to be when imagining the job. OffRoadRover.com An American Western Range Rover Off Road Blog

Do the chain guides on your 5.0 need attention already. I thought these were a fairly trouble free motor? ______________________________

I think these motors have some issues, more than the 4.4 and 4.2 gas, at least with tensioners, sc coupler, and water pumps. I think updated parts exist at least as far as the tensioners and guides but the opposite side are still plastic. OffRoadRover.com An American Western Range Rover Off Road Blog
