United Kingdom 2003 Range Rover HSE Td6 Adriatic Blue
What model is my car?

Having a really weird time looking for insurance for my new motor, if I type in the Reg all the 'information' services are really vague!

They all just say Land Rover Range Rover, not the trim line or anything!

The difference in insurance between an SE and HSE is £1700 Shocked

Anyway I look on this website Vin Decoderz.com and it gave me lots of information about my VIN, including:

Derivative Badges - Badge HSE [057BX]

Everything else about the car e.g. xenons, seats, aircon, rain sensor, colours of exterior and interior etc. is correct, so I take it mines a HSE?

Opinions welcome Thumbs Up

2016 Range Rover Vogue SE SDV8 Corris Grey

What does it say on the V5?

Does it say:

Make: Landrover
Model: Range Rover

If so, thats all the information the DVLA holds and can therefore be grabbed by the online checkers. The information is completed when the vehicle is first registered new in the UK so whoever completed the paperwork may not have documented or forgotten the full model designation Current Fleet:-
2018 Discovery 5 3.0 HSE
2021 Ford Ranger Wildtrack
2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt 5.0 V8
1993 Defender 90 200TDI Pickup

Gone - not forgotten
2016 L405 4.4 SDV8 Vogue SE
2012 L322 4.4 Westminster
2004 L322 4.4 V8 Autobiography LE
2000 P38 RR 4.0 HSE (ex Clarkson test car)

I think you might be right Nick.

Both of the checkers kindly provided by Stan just said Land Rover - Range Rover, Unfortunately I can't check the V5 at the moment as haven't had it back from DVLA... Thats if the previous owner actually bothered to send it to them.

Is it possible to change this information, or would they want to see the vehicle etc. etc. quite annoying and like I said, if I hadn't double checked I would have been paying £1700 more insurance! (no.. no points ever!)

You should be able to change it easily without having to have them inspect the vehicle - you can just make the change on the V5 and send it back to them. They will let you know if it needs checked, but I wouldn't expect them to want to.

On that era RR the model range was SE, HSE, Vogue, Autobiography so the SE is a lower spec. Not sure how the model difference would make such a difference in a price though. Current Fleet:-
2018 Discovery 5 3.0 HSE
2021 Ford Ranger Wildtrack

To be honest it doesn't matter if they want to see the vehicle, when I receive the V5 through I will see if I can get a printout from Land Rover with the original specifications and fill the form in, and send it to the DVLA.

I thought SE was lower than the HSE, maybe I'll try getting a quote as a Vogue and see what different that makes... Couldn't believe it though!

Send me a PM with your reg, from your reg I can get the VIN, and can confirm exactly what yours is.
