Front struts

Well the time has come and one of my fronts has finally succumbed to debris getting in at extended mode and created a small pinhole after being trapped in there at normal height.

Reading Jo's picture story there are the lower bolts I'll be soaking in wd40 a few days before I do the work and brakes as well probably but my question is,

Are Delphi or Dunlop the OE maker as there doesn't seem much in it and I'd rather stick with them as they've lasted 11years!
I'll probably chuck new rear dampers onaswell for good measure as I know two bushes need doing back there soon anyway now they squeek lol FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Where's the best place to get them then as I'm trying the part number RNB000750 and it's just throwing up Dunlop ones.... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Could always PM Dan and see how much he will do the Delphi ones for, he can do Dunlop, LR or Delphi from why I can remember. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Cool cheers guys 👍

Hopefully the FF won't have many more outings on the lanes once I finish the work on the other beast but in the meantime it gets everything it needs and more so best get onto island tomorrow and see how long delivery will take 😊 FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I'd go for Delphi again (Island 4x4 were cheapest at the time) as they seem to be better quality Wink MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Delphi should be here today Smile

Found this on YouTube and Censored myself at how easy it looks but more he fact I know that each bolt and nut is going to fight me every step lol!! Also doing discs and pads while there as its not much extra work really to do them and got discs already and pads are only £25 from island!

Will, yes you are correct, its an "easy peasy” job IF!!! the bolts undo! Less than an hour per side Thumbs Up

BUT!!! I have been stuck for 2 or 3 hrs on one bolt before now! Shocked The issue is being so close to an explosive strut! & not using heat Rolling Eyes You just need a bigger/longer 1" bar and bigger arms and much soaking in WD sir Whistle

Leave plenty of time (like a day per side Rolling Eyes ) to do the job and it will only take an hour Whistle

A quick note, the plastic clip on the side at the bottom does NOT come on the replacement leg. So either use a cable tie or order the clip as an extra... Thumbs Up

The frag is off now with disc caliper and pads!
Mine skinned finger and the top drop link nut required use of an Irwin socket on it so I'll get a new one of those from the local engineering shop. The bottom bolts have been soaked since yesterday morn in gt50 which may have helped a little but typically were a little stuck and I had used the wire drill brush head on the cordless to clean up the threads a little before hand as well.

One of the caliper slide pins was sticking again so I've cleaned it out, given it a little ligh sand with some 2000grit and then a blob of high temp grease in there and feels nice and smooth now.

I also need to log a support ticket with Apple now 😭😭😭 FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
