So, Took a look at the ford ranger yesterday, Yes, its not a FF BUT you do get a lot of truck for the money and it ain't a farm bus anymore. Anyone intrested in a 2012 65k FSH very clean TDV8 in grey.
Any constructive feedback would be apprechiated.

There a great truck but you should also look at the VW Amrok they are both good value for money and both capable vehicles.
You will miss not have the green oval though.

It's the best selling vehicle in New Zealand so everyone has one over here. I had a look at the new hilux 4x4 today. Not a bad looking car.

I think if you went over to Mr Bell at Bell Auto Services in York with a Ford Ranger, he'd be able to breathe quite a lot more life into it.

I'm pretty sure it's the same 2.2 Puma engine as in the Defender and I'm pretty sure he's got a Ranger himself.

Not a reason to buy it, just an option if a little more performance to bridge the gap with a RR.

I can only comment about the 3.2 pick up we have at work, not been the most reliable, better to drive than previous models, but we have had gearbox issues and a the engine sounds awful, but it also had an engine issue, was rebuilt or replaces, I am convinced something is wrong with it, it is rough as *@@*......


Leather interior and finish was nice, however we use it in a quarry Regards

That's a fair point, As for me (and I hav'nt made up my mind yet) its possibly an itch but the running cost of a FF like road tax at £500 recent front brake pads at £200 a service on its way which is going to a indie this time, the finance which is only £250 pr mth but it all adds up not to mention the 30k of my cash which I have in it already.
I've been here before and sold a FF and regretted it so my eyes are wide open.
Looked at a Ranger Wildtrak on saturday they are a big truck which is fine, but when it has a leather dash/ wheel, 8" touch screen, hill decent etc, music streaming, heated nearly everything, brand new, adaptive cruise, 470 torques a 3.2 oil burner, the list goes on and for 25k plus vat, it just makes me think twice. I cant claim the vat back but if I start another business then I could so no prob.
All I need now is a 4x4 thats comfy and can tow 3500kg. I already have one but just can't decide what to do.

They have just changed some of the vat rules relating to commercial vehicles bought for business use.

Not sure of the new regs as i wasn't looking for one at the moment but one of the Hilux is playing up...... Will have to read up. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

The new ford is very good , I'm a Padstow harbour commissioner and we got our new ford a few weeks ago the staff wanted a ford again as they say it's better than the hilux for the work we use it for

Chopped my 2008 VSE 3.6 for this last month.

Not a fullfat but 4 years zero% interest and 3 years warranty.

Drives well, with the Auto box and 3.2 engine. Got the added off road pack with locking diff

Tows 3.5 tons, heated leather, reverse cam, 2h, 4h and 4low box. And an infotainment system that works. I'm loving it!

I didn't think the anorak drove as well as the Ford and in auto spec no low box that did it for me.

Congrats on your ranger it looks very smart. If you don't mind I have just a couple of questions, How do you find the seats for comfort , Is there much engine noise, and how do you find the headlights at night compared to the FF cos I can't see to good at night.

Driver seat is electric fore/aft, up down and rake. There is a manual lumbar support (in or out) so not as adjustable as the FF's but I don't find it uncomfortable.

The headlights do have me worried coming from the adaptive units but as I've not driven it in darkness (not dark here much at the moment) I need to wait until autumn. I think some night breakers or equivalent may help. But will suck it and see.

The engine is noisey but I've only done 250 miles but I didn't think it's as bad as the D-Max and at 70mph you can chat normally in the cab. It's never going to be as quiet as the FullFat and that's part of the deal you need to tell yourself

I ran out of bottle with the FullFat although I hadn't had any major faults with it but to change it out for the same payments it was either a 4 year old D4 or a new Ranger. Always fancied a pick up. My neck is red much of the time anyway.
