FFRR 4.2SC

Driving home quite the thing, not a care in the world when I got the stutter and shudder of the car running out of fuel. 10-15 seconds later another and the engine stopped 😳

Having ran out of fuel before 🙄 In another car, I've always been fairly carefully... Fuel guage was at about an 1/8th full range predicted at about 60 miles.

Managed to get the car to the car to the petrol station by starting and driving a few hundred yards then repeating twice until over the crest of a hill and then free wheeled the remainder of the way, fortunately near the petrol station. The fuel prime was enough to get the engine running and car going.

Filled up and car was fine to drive but did have the engine management light on and briefly showed the message "reduced engine performance"

Frantically searched the FFRR forum to find this was common issue for several owners.
Phew !!

EML appears to have held a persistent fault in the memory, so hopefully with that cleared that should be the drama over.

Only had the car since Friday and had that sinking feeling that the bills were starting early. 😫

I know we have the WIKI and tons of knowledge being shared, would an Idiots guide help too ?! If so I have entry number 1.....

1. DO NOT LET THE FUEL GUAGE DROP BELOW 1/4 FULL FFRR -SC

i try not to let mine go below 1/4 thay just love petrol................!

Known fault on the SC ... Happened to me once and the car went into limp home mode ...

Happened to my wife last Wednesday.

Range said 24 miles left and it died, would start and attempt to run, EML on and no power and sounded like it had had it.

Fuel in and off it went again.

I have run it down lower and the range said 0 before and been fine so was a bit surprised but glad it was nothing worse.

Isn't there a fuel pump which lifts fuel from the dead side of the saddle tank to the side where it is then lifted to the engine? I do recall seeing this fault before on this forum but search has so far failed me. Stan ??
