So about to collect my 2012 Westminster from the JLR dealer next week, already want to use my TomTom rather than the inbuilt sat-nav.

Now I hate trailing cables etc and use a windscreen mount to low driver's right windscreen corner - but any views as to where and how to hide & route the power cable to cigarette socket?

And any views / options as to how to do a more permanent ignition live controlled power solution?

I have my Tomtom centre screen low and I also don't like cable flapping about so I ran the power lead under the dash top and down the side of the nav screen and inside of the passenger kick panel so that it comes out by the cigarette lighter in the console, end result is a clear dash and a working Tomtom

I don't see why you couldn't do the same with yours, but extend the lead so that it reaches the O/S A post.... If you want to switch the power on and off, you could always fit an extension socket and wire it to the fuse box... assuming that it's like the earlier ffrr's then all could be contained in the glove box.... the unused fuse that is switched in the early cars is number 7......

although i'm happy with my OE nav [2008] i also have a cheap nav with igo maps mounted to my right hand side dash vent.
its a backup nav when i drive abroad and also its very handy in the UK as it gives 'over speed' warnings which is handy if you drive in an unknown area..

One less obtrusive way is to get a cigarette socket extension and a fuse piggyback then route the cable under the windscreen bottom edge to the passenger side.

Remove the dash end (pops off) and wire the ciggy extension into the fuse box with the piggy back fuse holder, then plug your nav into the extension in the dash end and cable tie into position

Earth can be made on to the dash frame
