iPhone cradle

Hi guys,

I have a 56 plate L322 RR and I currently Bluetooth my phone to the car. This works okay but I can't view the address book or see whose calling.

Is there any way I can get a phone cradle for the centre armrest to integrate with the car properly?

Many thanks!

Jase

Centre arm rest is just a charger - it still connects via bluetooth.

IIRC you need an upgraded bluetooth module for the iPhone address book

Thanks. How would it have worked originally?

I think (and could be wrong) that even the old nokia 6300 or whatever it was that fitted in the cradle was a bluetooth connection

Actually - I should have asked the proper question - does your car have an old Nokia cradle in the arm rest ? Is it a factory phone kit ?

Does yours have a touch screen sat nav ?

The Nokia cradle was awesome I had it on my 06 TD6 it also had the upgraded bluetooth from Wiggins but with a Nokia 6210i in it I had full phonebook , text , charging and improved exterior arial ( I live in the Highlands so very handy ) Some days it feels like we went backwards a bit with smartphones Sad

If you have the wiring in the centre console some enterprising people have made their own cradle by butchering BMW parts but it's not easy and after a certain date they stopped putting the loome in . 2008 MY Supercharged

I have an MY05 Full Fat, with the phone cradle fitted and it fits a Sony Ericsson T610 phone as standard. It's a fully wired connection, giving on screen phone book, on screen and voice activated dialling, charges the phone, able to send and receive texts (only when I'm stationary though!) and even connects to the vehicle's internal aerials for better reception. I've got a PAYG Sim card in it and find it's way better than my regular mobile phone (a Sony Experia Z3). If I take the T610 out of the cradle, I can connect my Z3 via Bluetooth but don't get as good a reception.

My car has the touch screen system and currently no cradle connected under arm rest. Does anyone sell the cradles for iPhones? I find it strange that even though the phone is connected via Bluetooth and calls can be made, you can't see who is calling or access the phonebook...is there a setting I haven't hit right? Anyone else with the issue?

There never was an iPhone cradle , as I said some people made one from butchering BMW cradles and Land Rover connecting pins but none of those parts are available any more . Your bluetooth can be upgrades provided it is of a late enough serial number to show phonebook and caller id .Or with a minimum of wire cutting you can fit a unit from a Disco 4 which has all you want . 2008 MY Supercharged

How come they installed a connection point under the arm rest? Was it for the US? I was hoping a connection would mean an external aerial would be picked up as well
