Wet Patch

Well, I thought I'd spend time getting to know my engine. TDV8 3.6

Very different from the V8 Thor!!!

So all dusty and dry as I shone the torch but then, in true expected LR fashion I spotted a small wet patch.

Tried to take a pic but couldn't get access.

As you look at the car from the front on the left hand side of the engine about half way down the is a metal pipe joined in the middle by a hose connected with two jubilee clips. This hose is very close to the steering rack column. It appears to be wet, not a great deal but wet oily.

Does anyone know what this is? If I was to guess, maybe auto transmission pipe to the cooler?

Cheers in advance

Jerry

Gday Jerry
It sounds like you're looking above the steering rack which would be the driver side turbo area. I seem to recall you replacing both turbos. ______________________________

Jerry, think this is what your looking at.

I would try tightening the clamps, degrease it and see if oil returns. ______________________________

Hi Pete,

Yes thats the one and yes both turbos replaced. Is it from the turbo and if so, what does it do?

Many thanks for the pic.

Cheers, Jerry

It's the turbo output pipe going forward to the intercooler. Here's a pic from the WSM.

G'day Pete,

Well you were spot on. When I put my hand down with rag to clean the crud, the top clip spun around, completely loose.

Cleaned up and tightened.

That picture helps too, Many thanks and appreciated.

Cheers, Jerry

No worries. An easy fix. It might be worth checking the other side. ______________________________
