Help needed.... What colour....?????

Went for a drive around the Yorkshire Dales yesterday... a few of the lanes up there are rather narrow and a lot are overgrown, one in particular was so washed out that the going was rather tough, the side angle you end up at is rather severe, there is little scope for picking your line so you go where the lane takes you, well the Fatty was just that... too fat and it hit the wall on the passenger side on both arches and the rear door so that is every panel on the car with damage of some kind, apart from the lower tailgate which I modded for the rear tyre install...

Short video of the lane, it's good from the start but the fun starts around 3.20 and you can see Deb's expression and hand gesture around 3.57 when the nearside is scraping down the wall..

So the time has come for a RESPRAY, it's had two years of doing some of the toughest lanes in the country and is now starting to look tatty, I don't mind the "used" look but you have to draw a line somewhere....

I rather like the green but SWMBO doesn't, she's of the opinion green cars are unlucky so as well as a respray it will be a colour change as well... so now we get down to colour choice...

AND BEFORE ANYONE SAYS ANYTHING IT IS NOT GETTING PAINTED SOME DAFT ORANGE COLOUR, I don't want to drive a hi vis jacket..... Rolling Eyes

It will be done properly, door/boot/bonnet shuts will be done but probably not the engine bay...

I'm thinking a grey/silver colour or should I say gunmetal/titanium... as I think it will hide the bush rash better....

A few picks of the latest scratches, most of the finer ones here do polish out quiet easily but ones from rocks don't... Whistle Rolling with laughter

I also broke the front wing plastic cover...

I do still like Ford Mercury Grey which I sprayed my Classic in some time ago.. maybe that would suit the FF...

Thoughts, suggestions, slagging off, comments.... please chip in....

My silver ffrr is good at hiding the dirt.... but maybe a good coating of stone chip to the lower half might resist the scars a bit longer Wink Which case it would be black, grey or white Very Happy Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Mat grey I recon. Bit different.

And if you don't like the G4 orange, go for good old Camel Trophy sand glow, and put some Camel stickers on..... Mat black bonnet to stop shine from desert sun....

Maybe one of the Line-ex or Raptor products in a mid grey? It won't help with the dents, but may help with the inevitable scratchy lanes.

You know I'd do it in Tangiers, but you won't do that you spoil sport Mr. Green .....sorry, I'll get my coat GONE 2010 Facelifted 3.6 TDV8 - Stornoway Grey + 22" Overfinch Olympus

That was mainly the idea behind the Mercury Grey, had a Granada in it years ago and that colour is just the same as the muck you get off the road... always looked clean...

I don't like matt on an FF, it's far too expensive to wrap it, I can respray it for much less than the cost of buying the stuff to wrap it... plus you can't really do the shuts with a wrap....

Hate the Camel Trophy colour as well....

Am leaning towards a lighter silver, so Emperor's comment is about spot on, but not the undercoat, the metal...

It will have some stonechip on it but painted over in body colour, can't see the point of truckbed liner or similar, it still scratches and looks tatty and won't stop dents...

Full external rollcage would help but that would make it even wider and it wouldn't fit anywhere....

So,, light silver is at the top of the list... for the time being.... I'm going to get the bumpers galvanised so maybe I could leave them bare if the silver is similar....

Mark, I do appreciate the work that went into that matt silver wrap but it just looks like it's been undercoated and they forgot to do the topcoat.... Rolling Eyes Pete
