Has anyone fitted an Arnott Industries air Spring to a TDV8?

That shouldn't been hard as the Arnott ones are recon, and they don't change the damper I'd stick with Delphi if you go off road / planning to keep the car a while, and Dunlop if you do mainly road work and will be getting shot in the next few years  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Ok. Is the strut gas or oil? An oil strut should last a lot longer than a gas strut.

Does a EAS strut valves/behave the same as a standard strut, ie push up. If yes it would be easy to check it on pick up. ______________________________

As above.
Given the front dampers are combined with the air spring in one unit and assuming the FF you are referring to is as per your profile and is 8 years old now (how many miles?) replacing both damper and spring together is more prudent.
If replacing dampers they should be done in pairs.
The rear bags don't have to be done in pairs as the damper is separate but if one has failed due to age then the other might not be far behind it anyway.

I know when I changed my front struts due to an air bag gone I also change the rear dampers as they were also 10+ years old and covered 100k+ miles and seemed wrong to have new on the front and ancient on the rear. There was nothing physically wrong with them but the difference in damping between old and new OEM replacements (Bilstein) was quite dramatic!

As miggit says, it depends if you are planning on keeping the vehicle I guess. The Delphis I replaced on mine were about 12 years old so hopefully the new ones should do the same.

The intention is to replace both the L& R air Spring and strut. Migget is saying the strut in the Arnott product is not new. I can check the Arnott unit on pick up if I went that way instead of importing a Delphi unit.

My tdv8 just ticked over 8 years and 250,000km.

While no leaks yet, here is what the folding section of the spring looks like.

The rear Springs looks in much better shape, and the rear struts have been replaced.

Arnott industries buy back your old units They say that they check the dampers to make sure that they are working... but bearing in mind that the air bags go pop at about 100,000 miles or 161,000 km's I reckon that the dampers wont be good for much longer.... and you will be taking a very calculated risk buying S/H dampers with new air bags fitted.... different if they are half the price, you want to get shot of the car, or they come with a stupidly long warranty like 10 years......  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Didn't want you to go in to this with half the facts.... I was personally shocked when I found out what they were doing.... they don't really make it obvious what the replacement struts are, you really have to dig deep on their site to find the info..... but it's there in the Weasel words  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... I think you and Weejock are right. I need to look at it as a 10 yr investment, as will probably be keeping the car that long. Even if the Arnott unit is ok on pickup, it will already be old. I'm better off starting with a new rather than refurbed unit.

It looks like the original JLR part was at least partly Bilstein, so is likely to be an oil shock with longer life than a gas shock.

I'm now seeing if an Australian Bilstein distributor sells the FFRR Spring/strut combo part numbers 45-241727 & 45-241734. ______________________________

It would probably be cheaper to buy them from Island 4X4 in the UK and ship them , that's what I found when my rear dampers started to leak . 2008 MY Supercharged

Yep, Island 4x4 are very competitive on product price and postage.

I spoke to Bilstein Australia. They found the shock was not suitable to Australian conditions. Their shock rather than airbag had too high a failure rate here. ______________________________

Stick with the Delphi's you know that they will survive thousands of Australian miles and still work, lets face it they are OEM for L/R, only buy them as Delphi..... otherwise you'll end up paying L/R prices and that will be  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!
