Fix it fast, before something moves sideways on you !! The thought of that engine self-terminating...

Timing chain is a about 15 hour job I have been told, these also get a noise from the supercharger snout. Mine is in being done under warranty it's got 60,000 miles on and I could hear a rattle/tapping noise. |

I have a 2011 SC and had the same problem after I purchased it. It sounds like a diesel rattling away. I had it to the dealer 4 times. 1st time they did the chain tensioner update kit. Sounded ok for about an hour, then the rattling again. Took it back and the went at it again and 2 pulleys on the timing belt were not 100% aligned. They aligned. Bottom line, it still just rattles away. The dealer said its ok but I have listened to other 2010-2012's and they don't make the noise. Very frustrating. |

There is an updated SC snout that they checked out on mine and i still have the old part. I think they are going to do chains and SC. The tech who checked mine out knew the noise straight away as he had been to USA to work and theres rather alot of 5.0 SC he has dealt with. |

Got the car back from the garage and the rattling has gone away but now have got the error "P0366-00 (E8 ) Camshaft position sensor B - circuit range/performance (bank 1) ". This came up at the garage and the the sensor was changed but error still cropped up. The garage have requested the car be run for a couple of days and then take it back for more diagnostics. The car will run for about a day without issue and then the error code will come back up -- resetting via IID tool gives me another error free day. Ideas anyone?

It is a known and common problem to the 5.0 SC - there was a dealer recall for this but only if you still have a warranty left on the car - otherwise it is a 15 hours job that you pay for - BUT if you don't care about the noise - there is no prob to leave it like it is - it wont damage the engine - that is what my local LR dealer told me when i had my L322 5.0SC. All my spelling errorz are belong to me!

My Dealer told me the same thing but it sure is noisy. Sounds like a diesel but only when sitting still. |

Mine sounds like a diesel at tickover too. Dealer says they will do it under warranty but I'm reluctant to let them do it in case it causes more trouble. I'm hanging on to see if it gets worse. 2012 5.0L S/C

There is an LR fix for this - no prob if done by an LR dealer.

Nomad I would let them have a go. There is a workshop procedure for it, and if they follow it to the letter then there shouldn't be an issue. Better getting it fixed now than after the warranty has expired. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

OK. Might have to bite the bullet and get it done. Does it matter if I have the vehicle serviced at an Independent (with original parts) and then go back to the dealer for the warranty work? 2012 5.0L S/C
