SKY Q

Anyone got it yet called Sky today to advise of a home move and the sky rep mentioned about upgrading to Sky Q so before i decide i was wondering if anyone on here had it and if it was any good ....

Rep said i would be better with Sky Q rather than their Sky+ multiroom as it will be connecting to 5/6 televisions about the house ...

TIA for any info

As far as I am aware you can't connect that many boxes as there aren't enough tuners in the main box but I could be wrong. I'm waiting for my install on 18th April Very Happy Very Happy

to be honest Mick, I am wondering pretty much the same thing. Have had a look at it on the net and it looks pretty decent. However I am going to make a note of what I actually watch on the Sky over the next couple of months and see wether I'm actually getting my moneys worth out of it. Im pretty sure that bar a couple of channels (sky F1, and Discovery) pretty much all of the rest of the stuff i watch will be available on freeview or through amazon prime etc (which we have), so it begs the question as to why I'm spending £50 a month on it, I could after all spend that on beer or a gym membership. We've looked at getting it.

The idea sounds good but it was going to cost us a lot to upgrade as we're on a 50% off tv deal at present.

Basically the silver box is 2TB and stores all your tv programs. The silver box records 4 programs and you can watch a 5th channel. The mini boxes with connect to the main box via ethernet or wifi.
You watch all tv through the silver box. Your recorded tv can be watched on any box and if you pause it and go to another room the program continues from where it was paused. You can download all recorded tv to a tablet or phone to watch on the go.

You need sky internet for it to work but they are supposedly going to roll it out to non sky internet customers later this year.

The silver box is 4k UHD ready and supposedly there is no additional fee to watch 4k when it starts broadcasting.
The mini boxes are not 4k ready. Rumour going round they may be upgradeable later on for 4k with a software update.

Now this part you'll need to look into more as I didn't get a definitive answer. Apparently only 2 devices v=can watch tv at a time. Either the main box and a mini box or a box and a tablet. 2 devices I was told was the max. So if 3 people want to watch different tv they can't.

I have SkyQ as its my job Smile

Anyway, Silver your able to record 4 and watch a 5th, watch 2 mini STBs and 2 Ipads at the same time. The option to support other providers internet wise is going live soon, maybe this week.

Not Sky Q, but up until last year I was able to watch Sky on my laptop using Sky Go. That is until IE11 was installed and now I cant watch any Sky channels on the laptop.
Seems there is an issue between Sky and Silverlight. Its supposed to work with Firefox but it doesnt, Anyone found this or found a way around it without uninstalling IE11 and going back to IE9 if at all possible, which I dont think is a goer as I'm using Win7!

A couple of my family have got the android box, and are really pleased with it.
I would only want to watch f1 live, which I have been told is no problem.
I see a lot of you need to run several devices at one time, so its probably not an option.
I know one family member will be cancelling there sky soon, as they can watch all films they can think of.
I'm really considering it, at 40 quid, its a no brainer for me.

Emperors new clothes I think - another excuse for sky to increase their prices. Just had another rise of nearly £4 per month. That's probably to pay for the free TV's they are giving away to new customers!

I've got sky and have been debating the change to Q so would also be interested in some feedback. I don't have sports or movies but also have an Amazon firestick with Kodi.

Its nice talking about receiving illegal TV programs via Illegal means and some people think its great getting a full package for £40.00.

That's until its switched off. Range Rover quotes.....

They are going to call me back tomorrow with all the details but basically its Sky Q Silver and due to being with them for 16 years i get the box and mini box free , but if i want to connect the other tv's it will be £99 for snother main box and mini box , and monthly payment including their broadband takes it to £119 a month ...

I also have Apple tv and Amazon Prime but only use these two periodically ...

Anyhow will find out more tomorrow 👍
